Appearance
Open Settings → Appearance to choose the available Gift Journal theme/style. Theme presentation is shared coherently across supported surfaces, while each platform uses its own native layout.
Region & defaults
Open Settings → Region & defaults to review settings such as:
- region;
- calendar/date language;
- default currency;
- time zone.
Calendar & date language controls regional/date presentation. It is not a separate in-app UI-language selector competing with Apple’s system/per-app language setting.
Reminders
Use Settings → Reminders to:
- request notification permission;
- set default reminder timing;
- refresh the reminder schedule;
- choose whether Show more detail in notifications is enabled; it is OFF by default in Version 1.4;
- open the system Notification settings when needed.
With the Version 1.4 default, notification wording is discreet. The richer-detail preference is device-local rather than journal data, and even richer mode does not add Gift titles, Stored at, notes, URLs or order/reference values to notification content.
Privacy & iCloud
Use this section to review local-first storage, iCloud state and sync choices. No proprietary Gift Journal account is required for the core journal.
Data protection
Use Data protection for full backup/restore and related preservation controls. Portable Journal Export has its own section because it serves a different purpose.
Import a Gift recommendation
Use Settings → Data → Import gift recommendation when you have received a supported Gift Journal recommendation file and the system did not already hand it to the app automatically.
Save from Safari — Version 1.1
Version 1.1 adds a Mac Save from Safari setup/status area. It reports whether the Safari extension is enabled, disabled or unavailable and provides Open Safari and Refresh status actions.

Trial and Full Unlock
The Gift Journal uses one product-wide 14-day trial and a one-time Full Unlock, not a recurring subscription.
- The same Full Unlock ownership applies across supported iPhone, iPad and Mac devices for the same App Store customer identity.
- Installing another supported device does not create a new 14-day trial.
- Trial expiry does not delete journal data.
- Reading, backup, restore and export remain preservation-safe even after the trial expires.
Use Restore Purchases when the app needs to refresh an existing App Store entitlement.
Support & Feedback
Open Settings → Support & Feedback and choose:
- Report a problem;
- Suggest an improvement;
- Report a correction;
- Copy diagnostics.
Feedback drafts include what you deliberately type plus app/platform metadata. Journal People, Gift/Hint text, URLs, photos, Contacts content and private iCloud identifiers are not attached automatically.
